I think that it is high time for Christians in America to stand up and demand that our faith be treated with respect. Our country was founded upon the Judeo-Christian ethics in the Bible but this politically correct society wants to deny that fact and relegate Christianity and Christians to the trash heap of history.

Generally speaking, the society in which we live is more than ready to do away with Christianity than we Christians would ever believe. An amoral, humanistic, liberal society has more respect for the other world religions than it does for the faith upon which our country was founded: Christianity. Some would argue with me about this but I urge them to simply go and read our foundational documents and listen to the quotes from some of our founding fathers. There is no doubt about what their intentions were. It is clearly stated that America was founded to “propagate the Gospel of Jesus Christ” and that the Bible is absolutely necessary for the proper governance of people.

This brings me to the fact that we should not be reticent to let the people of the world know that we are a Christian nation and that they need to understand that when they come here. No one from any other religion should be surprised to hear a Christian prayer which ends with “in Jesus Name, Amen.” They should expect that. If I were in Arabia, I would expect to hear a Muslim cleric pray in their fashion and I would not be offended. I could pray silently in my own way. But, in America, we are expected to forget our Christian heritage and foundation and make room for everyone else to the point that we are not suppose to offer a decidedly Christian prayer. I think this is foolish and destructive to our American culture. It is most of all dishonoring to Jesus Christ.

I think a person should be able to worship as they see fit in America, but don’t tell Christians that they have to change what they do simply because others have come here. In Saudi Arabia a Christian is not allowed to worship or speak of his faith to others. They certainly can’t pray a Christian prayer in public. That is true in other Muslim countries as well. But here, we allow them to worship in an unhindered way. In Indonesia many Christians are dying simply because they are Christians but here they worship as they desire. In India Christians are persecuted and killed in many areas of the country simply because they are Christians. In Somalia, thousands of Christians are dying because they won’t convert to Islam. But, in the U.S. all people can worship as they choose with no fear of reprisal. Even further than that, we Christians are not suppose to have the same freedom because we might offend someone of another religion. This has got to stop!

A good example of how Christianity is treated is the slanderous and untruthful book about Jesus entitled the DaVinci Code. This is now being made into a movie which a Christ rejecting world will love and believe. In this book it is stated that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene and had children by her. This is just one of many things which are said and implied about Jesus. It paints him as just another human with all the foibles of humanity. This book and movie should be boycotted by all Christians. We should make the producers and writers feel the effects of dishonoring our Lord. While I know that there is enough of the lost world out there to make them rich, at least Christians should have no part in it. Let me ask this question: “Why don’t they write books and make movies like that about Mohammed?” Let me answer that question. Just ask Salmon Rushdie why they won’t write such things or make such movies. They won’t produce such things about Mohammed because they fear the results. They know the Muslims will not put up with it and that the consequences are severe, even deadly. But Hollywood and book publishers are not afraid of Christians because they know we don’t react that way and we never will. We will handle them with grace and pray for them. We will endure the persecution while all the time trusting in God to deal with it properly. They know they won’t get executed or persecuted if they slander Jesus. But, I want them to remember something: God is keeping the score and He is not going to let those who dishonor and slander His Son escape the consequences. Hollywood had better be careful because they are dealing with the Son of God and He is supreme in this universe.
